This dramatic Portuguese Man of War Jelly Fish Pendant wears a crown of dichroic glass. The coiled and flowing tentacles are cast in sterling sliver and the overall length of the pendant is 2-3/8" (60 mm)long. This is Alisha's second and most complex design collaboration with glass artist John Rizzie who has created a rainbow of dichroic glass crests from which Alisha's coiled sterling silver tentacles descend.
Each dichroic glass jelly fish crest is unique so choose from a rainbow of colors. Just as in nature, no two will ever be the same. The Man of War "Jellyfish" is as beautiful as it is dangerous.
In simple scientific terms, the Portuguese Man of War is not a jellyfish but a colony of organisms working together. Coiled stinging tentacles hang from a gas filled crest or "float." They resemble warships at full sail as they drift and float with the currents in warm waters throughout the world's oceans. Their sting is extremely painful but rare deadly to humans.
