Custom Work

General Things to Know about Custom Work

o  Nearly all of my current designs can be cast in an alternate metal — sterling silver, 14k gold, or 18k gold
o  Pricing is based on a variety of factors:
          - Type of metal desired
          - Type, size, and quality of gemstone (if applicable)
          - How much of a time commitment the project represents
o  I do ask for a deposit once a price is calculated
o  Having a clear vision and budget for your piece will greatly smooth the process overall

Modifying Charms

Most of my charms can easily be converted into earrings by hanging them on a French Hook (see an example here). If the design is appropriate, I am also happy to accommodate requests to convert my charms and pendants into pins, tie tacks, or cufflinks.

Embellishing an Existing Design

I often receive requests to embellish one of my existing designs by adding gemstones. Although these special requests are not always easy, I can usually make the magic happen. It is helpful if you have a clear vision of what you want and also helpful to know your budget. The price between gemstones varies widely depending on the type, quality and carat weight of the chosen stone. I can make suggestions to meet your vision and to stay within your budget, and we will know immediately if desire and budget will mesh. I will make alternative suggestions when necessary.

One-of-a-Kind Designs

Another common request is for a one-of-a-kind design created around one my unset opals, fire agates, or other unique free-form gemstones. I prefer to create these pieces in 14k or 18k gold. These pieces are very time consuming.

Generally my one of a kind pieces range from $3,500 to $20,000 (all prices in USD - click here for currency conversion) for a unique ring or pendant. I would be delighted to create a one-of-a-kind heirloom design where price is not the determining factor.

I receive many requests each week for custom work and I can only commit to a few custom projects each season. That said, if your request is for a design that’s already on my (lengthy) “To-Do” list, your email might just bump it up to the top. In this case there would be no custom design charge and no deposit required. My verbal or email commitment will motivate me to move forward with that design.

I look forward to working together in creating a unique heirloom piece!
