Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water! Our Octopus Shark Tooth Pendant clutches a fossilized Mako Shark tooth - AKA - isurus planus. These teeth are from Sharktooth Hill along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada just outside of Bakersfield California. They are 15.5 million years old and are rarely found elsewhere. They are distinctive for their wide hooked crowns.
The detailed sterling silver octopus cradles the tooth, is completely three dimensional and carefully detailed with a multitude of suction cups. It is a substantial design. The overall dimensions of the pendant are 3" long x 1-3/4" across.
Octopuses are fluid shape changers that crawl or jet propel across the ocean floor by using their single powerful siphon.
