My original green wax carving for the Octopus Shark Tooth Pendant is pictured here. This new design will be lost wax cast in sterling silver and available by mid July. The octopus clutches a fossilized Mako Shark tooth - Isurus Planus. These teeth are from Sharktooth Hill along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada just outside of Bakersfield California. They are 15.5 million years old and are seldom found elsewhere. They are distinctive for their wide hooked crowns.
The Octopus cradles the tooth, is completely three dimensional and detailed with a multitude of suction cups. It is a substantial design. The overall dimensions of the pendant are 3" long x 1-3/4" across.
Octopuses are fluid shape changers that crawl or jet propel across the ocean floor by using their single powerful siphon.
