Megalith is the best adjective to describe this 169 ct. Australian Koroit Boulder Opal. The front and the back of this two sided opal are completely different and one may have opposing opinions to what is front and what is back? I deem the front to be the side with the large patches of turquoise and indigo opalescence fading into brown. The back side is a fine example of a Koroit Bolder opal with dustings of opalescence orbiting throughout the stone matrix. This is an extraordinary stone and not many jewelers could use it but I anticipate designing a powerful dragon to guard it. 'Megalith Dragon' will perch atop the opal, its upper body and claws concealing the less exciting portion of the opal. The dragon's ribbed wings will wrap gracefully downward cradling both sides of the substantial stone. The opal has a lovely overall metallic sheen, is 2" long and 1 3/8" wide and will make a stunning and powerful Dragon Amulet.
