These Maryland Blue Crab Earrings are cast in sterling silver. The carefully detailed crabs are completely three dimensional and solid and 1 1/8" across and 1 1/8" high. Typical of this species, the crab's rear legs are equipped with paddles for swimming. I have had a shop at the Maryland Renaissance Festival for over 30 year and have had many requests for a Maryland Blue Crab designs. The blue crab thrives in the Chesapeake Bay and is a delicacy at many of the seafood restaurants on the Eastern Seaboard. The crab is also the astrological sign for Cancer.
Crabs are crustaceans and belong to the phylum arthropod and the order decodon. Spiders and insects are also arthropods but belong to a different order because of their leg count. So....without looking at the picture, how many legs do crabs have?
