One of a kind, Devonian Dragon is cast in 18K gold and guards a delicious piece of of Australian opalized fossil wood. The 11.5 ct. opal shimmers with turquoise green and lavender. The detailed dragon has unfurled wings and three hidden bails through which the chain can slide. The overall dimensions are 1-1/2" high and 1-1/8" across.
Although most gemstones are mineral materials there are many organic materials that are also considered gemstones. Examples of these are pearl, amber, coral and ivory. The name Devonian Dragon is inspired from the geological period, 390 million years ago when this opal was formed.
