These Saguaro and Nopal Cactus Charm Earrings are inspired by the remarkable beauty of the desert, it's diverse plant life and Marty's many trips to Baja. Both charms are cast in solid sterling silver and completely three dimensional and are new to our "Savage Garden Collection. The Saguaro Cactus Charm is 1 1/4" high and 3/4" across The Nopal Cactus Charm is 1 1/4" high and 1 1/4" across.
The Saguaro Cactus and Cardon Cactus look quite similar. The Saguaro is native to the Sornoran Desert, the state of Sonora Mexico and parts of the California Desert. They have been known to reach 70 feet and to live for 150 years. Stands of Cardon or Elephant Cactus flourish in Northern Mexico and Baja although clearing for cultivation threatens their habitat. The Nopal Cactus, sometimes referred to as the Prickly Pear Cactus, are both beautiful as well as edible. Their habitat ranges from South America to Canada.
