Jack And The Beanstalk Enamel Pendant
In the early 90's, I collaborated with two friends and designed a small line of champleve and lost wax pendant designs. Merry-Lee Rae was my inspiration and Marcia Holt was my partner in this brief endeavor. I drew the patterns for the champleve enamel designs and carved the wax for the sculptural settings. Merry Lee was a talented cloisonné artist and taught Marcia to enamel these champleve designs. Although the three designs were not officially a limited edition, the complexity of the concept and the complexity of a partnership limited the production of these pieces.
I designed only three of these champleve pendants with cast sculptural sterling silver settings. The three were: #1 The Cow Jumping Over the Moon enamel with a sculptural dish and spoon and the little dog laughing in the foreground. #2 Jack Climbing the Bean Stalk enamel with cast vines and a Castle in the sky, and a Storm enamel encircled by sculptural stormy waves and a lightening bolt flashing across the enameled background.
At this time, I have two of the Jack Climbing the Bean Stalk enamel encircled by vines and topped by the Ogres Castle in the Sky. I am keeping one for my archives but the other is available for sale. It's height is 3 3/8" overall and 1 1/2" wide. A substantial chain will fit through the two bails at the upper back of the Castle but the chain is not included in the price.
