Ammonite Earrings - Sterling Silver

These Ammonite earrings are lost wax cast in sterling silver. They are life castings molded off a tiny fossilized ammonite that we found at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. Each charm 3/4" high and completely three dimensional.

What exactly is a “Life Casting” you ask? It is when you take a form from nature and reproduce it in metal by various methods of molding and burning out of the wax or the natural specimen. There are technical challenges in making a life casting as one has just a single chance to mold it before the specimen is destroyed or damaged irreparably.
