This intricately detailed Green Man Ring is cast in sterling silver. Oak leaves and acorns make up the substantial band. The ring is 3/4" wide at the top, tapering down to 3/16" at the base of the shank.
The Green Man is a symbol of rebirth and a symbol of seasonal renewal. Although the Green Man may appear to be a pagan image, it has been a decorative motif in churches, abbeys and cathedrals around the world and throughout the centuries. The earliest Green Man carvings are in St. Abre, St. Hilaire-le-grand, France. 400 A.D. The Green Man has made a resurgence in modern times, with artists such as myself interweaving the imagery into various medias and interpretations.
