I applaud Alisha for designing this fanciful piece that bridges science with science fiction and a touch of whimsey. The piece is cast in sterling silver and an Orthoceras fossil is set within the spiky tentacles. The pendant is just over 3" long and has two hidden bails so that the piece can be worn either vertically or diagonally. If you so desire, there are options to add a 4mm tube set gemstone to the eyeball.
Orthoceras are extinct cephalopods with a long straight conical shell. They were fearsome predators that lived 370 million years ago in the Paleozoic seas possibly snacking on trilobites. Some species were just a few centimeters long but specimens have been found that are 3 meters long. A fun cephalopod fact is their tentacles grow out of their heads.
