This stunning 139.5 Ct Ammolite is 52mm x 43mm and is solid. The name I've chosen for this particular specimen is Dragon Mail because the layers of the stone remind me of dragon scales. This piece is solid and not a doublet or triplet.
Ammolite is an organic opalized gemstone. Although termed a gemstone and frequently set into jewelry, it is similar to a pearl, coral or abalone in that it is derived from organic material. It comes from fossilized and opalized ammonites and the material is found predominately in Alberta Canada. High quality pieces have brilliant rainbow layers of iridescence.
